What we Do

MES supports at-risk families by providing food relief, access to essential goods, social support, guidance on parenthood, marriage workshops, and family reunifications. MES Johannesburg is a registered Child Protection Organisation (CPO) that offers social welfare intervention services to children in at-risk families. MES has successfully integrated developmental and intervention services, child protection, counselling, care, rehabilitation, and therapeutic services through these two programmes.

FAMILIES at Risk: 4-Phase Model

MES provides access to services that support families at risk. Specific programmes and interventions focus on at-risk families living within the inner cities of Johannesburg, Kempton Park, Cape Town and Gqeberha. The programme addresses the need to provide food relief and social support, guidance on parenthood, marriage workshops and family reunifications.

Our Goal

  • To protect and safeguard vulnerable children and families at risk.
  • To promote well-being and preserve and strengthen families.

Get Involved

  • Funding for more social workers and therapists is needed to ensure sustainable exits from our programmes.
  • Access to and funding for relevant training for the primary income earners of at-risk families in all locations.
  • Recruitment and training of prospective foster parents for the protection of children is critical.
  • Containers/other building solutions required in Cape Town and Kempton Park to host community workshops.
