What we Do

MES offers a comprehensive afterschool programme (ASPs) for learners between grades 1 and 12 and children who graduated from the MES Early Childhood Development programme. By providing afterschool supervision, homework assistance, nutritious meals, and extracurricular recreational activities, MES supports inner-city children’s academic, spiritual, physical, and social development, helping them become well-rounded and healthy young people.

LEarners: 4-Phase Model

The MES learner target group comprises school-going children between the ages of 7 and 18 in overpopulated urban communities. MES provides interventions through afterschool programmes to learners from grades 1 to 12, offering afterschool supervision, homework assistance, meals, and recreational activities. The ASP aims to support academic, spiritual, physical, and social development to reduce the school dropout rate and create well-rounded individuals.

MES is a registered Child Protection Organization (CPO) that provides social work services and support for young people and their families.

Our Goal

  • To develop the psychosocial health of school-aged children in lower-income urban areas.
  • To inspire school-aged children to be more resilient and overcome adversity.
  • To empower school-aged children to lead happy, connected lives and advance their educational development.

Get Involved

  • Computer literacy classes at all locations need to be enhanced and expanded, and assistance with new computers and volunteers for training would be required.
  • Help us develop a robotics centre for inner-city children/youth.
  • Access to psychologists and counsellors is required to help support children holistically.
  • Volunteers and mentors to assist with extra classes for specific subjects.
  • We need bursaries of R150 per month to assist families who cannot afford the monthly commitment for the ASPs.
