Wish we could do more...
“A testimony from one of the night outreach members, San-Marie writes: ‘Night outreaches impact outreachers greatly. The reality is that many have nothing. We only fleetingly touch this reality on our outreaches and yet it hurts and impacts us deeply, while others pass fleetingly by. One man touched our hearts greatly. He has found a job nearby. His greatest wish is to be clean and not lose his job. He is a decent man. When we met him, he was busy reading a devotional by Solly Osrovech. Initially we passed hom by – he looked so decent and we thought that he was waiting for a taxi! Later on we saw that he was still there. Then we came back and chatted to him. He has only two sets of clothes and one blanket. He wants to wash his clothes, but where should he hang them out to dry? He wants to take a bath or shower to be clean – but where should he do this? We want to help him! HOW?
We cannot give him more in terms of clothes – where will he put them to keep them safe? Where will he sleep safely? If only we had a safe and clean place to let him sleep over until he gets his first salary! If one of us had a spot, we would house him! Currently we have no recourse to assist him, other than loving him unconditionally, taking him food on a daily basis, encouraging him, possibly taking him and his washing home for a day. We don’t want to hurt his feelings, or him to lose his job because he smells or his clothes are dirty!”
