Our Service Model

Over the past 24 years MES has developed a unique strategy focussing on the holistic development and empowerment of communities. The organisation’s work is focused on implementing a model of intake and prevention; intervention; and sustainable exit. Within each service unit these phases are implemented through different activities within the programme itself, but can also include referrals to other service units or resources.

The first phase:

Focuses on initial contact with the community either through prevention programmes or programmes where intake is done. Prevention programmes include activities that will empower groups within the community with knowledge and tools aiming to reduce or prevent potential harm to themselves or their community.

Intake programmes include a wide variety of activities that focus on first contact with the community with the aim to increase access to resources. Outreach workers play a vital role in building a trust relationship with the community ensuring that the communities’ needs are assessed and that services available to the community are marketed. Outreaches are conducted directly on the streets, in dilapidated buildings and within communities where MES operates. Drop in centres also plays an important role in the outreach and intake phase providing access to resources.  When the need arise for assistance, the client is referred to the social services department for an initial needs analyses which could lead to more in depth assessments and referrals in the intervention phase. Programmes includes activities that specifically addresses the needs within the community or more specifically the needs of each individual. Resources are developed or made available through partnerships. Support is in place to ensure an individual development plan and care plan is in place for each individual empowering them through different interventions towards a sustainable exit from the programmes. If you would like some statistics, please click here

The third phase:

The conclusion and success of an IDP lies in the sustainable exit of the client from the programme. Through all our activities MES strives to be in line with our core purpose which guides us to provide interventions that will lead to, or provide the platform for a sustainable exit. Job placement, follow-up, and after care services as well as the availability of affordable accommodation to newly employed clients through our sister company Madulammoho Housing association are examples of activities that falls within this phase. If you would like some statistics, please click here
